Yellow Field I filled a hexagonal pergola type room at the Burnaby Art Gallery. At the time of installation the willow trees outside the window had yellow leaves so I was interested in the juxtaposition of indoor and outdoor spaces, especially in dealing with installing work in a room that was mostly made of windows.
Yellow Field II was installed in a hotel room at the Jupiter Hotel as part of the Portland Art Fair. I was there as a representative of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and in particular the LAB project space in the gallery. I set the work up to fill one wall but when viewers walked into the room the first thing they encountered was the view of the installation in the mirror. The mirror provided a new way of framing the field installation.
